UHV Family Weekend

Family weekend was fun for students, their families, faculty, and staff as everyone attended the soccer tailgate for the women’s and men’s teams as they prepared to face the respective teams from LSU-Alexandria.

Offices and organizations from members of UHV’s campus provided free food, treats, games, and giveaway goodies for visiting families and others who attended the event. The International Programs Office’s table presented UHV Bingo complete with official bingo paraphernalia. Those who played were able to win prizes that corresponded with the letter they rolled from the bingo wheel.

The event also gave our international students the opportunity to complete volunteer hour requirements for receiving scholarships awarded to them. Several of our students turned out for the event and helped set up for the event, conduct the game, interact with families, and tear down once the tailgate was over. They were awesome! We even had one student drive from the Katy campus to participate. And, of course, they had lots of fun as they took table-attending and game-playing (and eating!) in turn.

After the work was done, there was nothing left but to cheer on our Jags teams for the women’s and men’s games the rest of the afternoon. Go, Jags!

Ludmi’s Recruitment Efforts in South Asia 2016 Sept 6 – October 1

UHV International Programs Office takes part in International Recruitment to brand and advertise our campus for International students to attend UHV. Our campus is famous among Graduate Students around world. But we are promoting our Undergraduate Programs and our Graduate Programs.

2016-2017 year kicked off with a recruitment trip to South Asia and Nigeria. South Asia consisted of visits to India and Sri Lanka. The Educational Fairs were sponsored by a third party organization in India and Sri Lanka. The visits in India was predominately Graduate Students. UHV visited and conducted sessions in United States-India Education Foundation Centers across New Delhi, Chennai, Mumbai (Bombay) and Hyderabad. We also hosted sessions with Study Metro an Educational Consultancy agency that provides great services to students from India that is seeking services to Study Abroad. UHV strengthened the networking opportunities as well as partnership collaboration with O.P.Jindal Global University.

Sri Lanka is the home country for Ludmi. UHV conducted sessions through the Educational Fairs and Fulbright Centers as well as visiting few public and private high schools such as Gateway International and Overseas International School. UHV met with American College of Higher Education (ACHE), American National College (ANC) and Sri Lankan Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT) for partnerships in promoting UHV.

The Nigerian visits were sponsored by the U.S. Consulate and EducationUSA. The Educational Fairs were packed with Undergraduate and Graduate students. We were able to meet private school students and conduct sessions for students separately as well as through fairs. The University representatives had an opportunity to showcase their campuses.

Among all the campuses during India, Sri Lanka and Nigeria Education Fairs, UHV is one of the most affordable and the campus that is offering scholarships on top of their low annual expenses.

Here is a message from Kelsey,

My name is Kelsey Greene, and I’m so excited to be a part of UHV’s International Programs Office. I am originally from Grand Junction, CO but I have lived in Paducah, KY since I was 10. It was in Kentucky that I received my B.S. in Youth and Nonprofit Leadership (YNL) and M.A. in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from Murray State University. I really enjoy traveling, being active, and trying new foods and activities whenever I can. I look forward to meeting students, faculty, and staff at UHV campuses!

Congratulations and Welcome to our Jaguar family!

International Collaborations for UHV

During the first week of the fall 2016 our International Programs Office was extremely busy. Not only we welcomed 27 new students to our campus, but we also strengthened our collaborations with two partner campuses around the world.

Our first international dignitary visit was from China University of Petroleum visit on the 23rd of August. This past summer our President Morgan and few other dignitaries from UHV visited China and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with China University of Petroleum for mutual partnership in research, student and faculty exchanges. We had a total group of 9 dignitaries visit from China Petroleum University. After a full day of events, we concluded the event by showing the group our amazing Jaguar Village. Let me tell you, they were impressed of our campus. We were so honored that we were able to be part of this great event.

The second event was welcome students and faculty from Soochow University from Taiwan. Dr. Hsin-Hui Lin and amazing faculty members from our School of Education, Health Professions and Human Development for organizing such an amazing event.
